Leighton's Baptism

On Sunday, June 12th, we baptized Leighton at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Victoria.  This was very special to us, not only because Leighton became a member of the Church, but because she received this sacrament at the same church that Lyn and I were both baptized in and were later married in (both of our parents were married there too).  Because Our Lady is Lourdes is a smaller parish, they do baptisms upon request (rather than once a month, etc.)... so our little lady had her very own special service after the Sunday morning mass.
We chose my cousin, Jenny, and her husband Jeremy to be Leighton's Godparents.  We were also joined by several family members and some very close friends.
(Notice that the men are looking at the camera taking the photo above, but the ladies (including the littlest lady) are not)
Of course, Miss L was her usual sweet self and did not make a peep during any of it.  She stared at Father Say while he was going through the readings like she was really paying attention - it was too cute.  He even made a comment afterward about how good she was.  Lyn and I were very proud (and thankful)!

After the service, we had everyone over to my parents' house for lunch.  We had such a wonderful day, and we are so thankful for our sweet little girl, our wonderful family, and our great friends.

Our day was extra special for a few other reasons that I want to note - my Sister had just come home from Honduras for the summer, so she was there for Leighton's big day.  Unfortunately, she was behind the camera, so I don't have any pictures of her to share.  Also, my mom sewed Leighton's Christening gown (which I promise I will get better pictures of once we have it dry cleaned), and it was perfect for the special little girl who wore it...
And, Lyn's mother made a precious (and delicious) strawberry cake and topped it with a keepsake for Leighton...
Thanks again to everyone for being there for Leighton's baptism.  She is truly blessed!
