Our Weekend

We had a nice, relaxing weekend at home.  We even had a few visitors.  Tara came by to meet Miss Leighton on Saturday, and Bill, Sunnye, and Grayson stopped by on Sunday to visit. My parents came up Saturday afternoon and spent the night with us too.  Unfortunately, I didn't take a single picture.  Here is a picture of Leighton yesterday morning for her grandparents.  We snuggled for a couple hours in bed and she was still sleepy after I wiggled out.  I had to take a picture because she looked too cute.

First Trip to POC!!

On Friday, March 18th we headed down to the coast to introduce Leighton to Port O' Connor, Texas baby!!  So it's no Belize... but it is a place that her mommy and daddy love, and we think she did too.  Miss Leighton got some good snuggle time with some of her biggest admirers over the weekend...

With Aunt Erin
 Auntie Annie
 Granny and Pops
 Cousin Lilly
 Grandpa
 And of course, my daddy...
That's Grandma in the background... she snuggled with me too!!

I love this picture... you think her grandparents like her??

St. Patty's Day

I wanted so badly to get Leighton a cute outfit for her first St. Patrick's Day, but it kind of crept up on me.  So, we made due with what we had.  Little missy wore her an outfit from Aunt Stacy and her family.  The bow was bigger than she was, so we didn't make her wear it for too long.
Here are some other cute ones from that day...
Fun with Granny
With Cousin Mason - she thought he was pretty cute...
 After her bath...
 Too sweet!!

I finally conquered the Sleepy Wrap!

After several failed attempts, I finally did it!  I put Leighton in the wrap several times yesterday and I really think she likes it.  She even took a little snooze while I started dinner.
Lyn got a kick out of it because it looked like I was pregnant again... so he made me take a picture in our bathroom where I took my weekly progress pics...

One month old!!

Don't ask me how it's possible, but our little one turned a month old on March 7th.  It makes me sad how quickly the time has passed - it feels like I blinked and a month flew by.  It makes me realize how special every day at home with Leighton is and that I need to slow down and enjoy every moment (tear).

Leighton went to the pediatrician on her one-month birthday and got a perfectly clean bill of health.  Here are her stats:

Weight - 8 lbs. 8.5 oz. (30%)
Length - 21 1/4 in. (58%)
Head circumference - 14.25 in (29%)

And here are some pictures from our one-month photo shoot...

My first road trip...

On Friday, March 4th we packed up the car and the munchkin and took our first trip home to Victoria.  Needless to say, I was nervous about packing everything we needed, the drive there, whether or not she would sleep in a different place, meeting so many new people, etc, etc... but Leighton was a champ!  She slept most of the way there.  Friday night, we went out for Mexican food with our parents and stayed at the Goldmans' house.  On Saturday, several great aunts and cousins came by to meet the little one.  Leighton hammed it up for all of them, and she got a few naps in while she was being snuggled.  Here are some of the new faces she got to see...

Great Aunt Marie
Great Aunt Sandy
 Cousin Laci
 Great Aunt Katherine

Great Aunt Susan
And of course, Great Grandma Hobbs came by to see me again.
Saturday afternoon, we loaded up and headed to my parents' house.  When we got there, my mom was out running errands, so Pops got some good snuggle time with Miss Leighton (Granny tends to hog her).  Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures, but Leighton also got to meet Great Aunt Donna, Cousin Shelly and Adyson, Great Uncle Randy, Great Aunt Melissa, and cousins Justin and Andrew.  Mamie and Cousin Sarah came by to see her again too!  On Sunday, we took Leighton to church for the first time.  Here she is ASLEEP dressed and ready to go to church...
NOTE that she woke up five minutes after we got to church thanks to the speaker we were sitting next to and the family who thinks the louder you pray, the better your chances of going to Heaven sitting behind us.  So, little missy started fussing and we spent the rest of the mass in the foyer.  It was nice to get our foot in the door though.  At church, Leighton got to meet her Great Aunt Teresa and cousins David and Abby.  They didn't get enough of her there, so they came over to Granny and Pops' house afterward for some more snuggle time.

I think David really liked her...
I was so pleased that Leighton slept well both nights and didn't seem to be too out of her element.  It was a great weekend, and this mommy is glad to have our first road trip under our belts.

Newborn pictures

On February 23rd, we had Miss Leighton's newborn pictures taken by Miss Tiffany at Mulberry Dreams Photography in Humble.  Tiffany was wonderful!  Leighton, on the other hand, was not so cooperative.  The idea was for her to sleep the whole time so Tiffany could work her magic... but our little one is not the best napper (especially in the mornings), so things did not go according to plan.  Although you won't be able to tell from the pictures, we were there for three long hours and nearly threw in the towel.  Just as we were calling it a wrap, little missy fell asleep and Tiffany went to town.  We could not be more pleased with the results and will definitely be going back to see Miss Tiffy as Leighton gets bigger.  Here are a few of our favorites...

I am SO loved...

We are very blessed to have an amazing family and a wonderful group of friends who adore Leighton already.  Allow me to introduce you to some of the members of her fan club...
